After hinting about LucasArts games coming to Nintendo’s Virtual Console, LucasArts delivers today with the release of Super Star Wars for the SNES at 800 Nintendo points, along with upcoming releases of Super Empire Strikes Back and Super Return of the Jedi.
Along with the new games on Virtual Console, other channels across Nintendo’s platform will have Star Wars-themed happenings throughout the week. There will be a contest for creating the best Star Wars Mii on the Check Mii Out channel, and users can vote on Star Wars related questions on the Everybody Votes channel.
Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing, spoke on the matter. “Our expanded partnership with LucasArts brings the Star Wars and Nintendo universes together,” she said. “These three Super Star Wars games represent fantastic additions to the growing Virtual Console library, and the exclusive Star Wars content on the other Wii Menu channels is sure to have people from different generations having fun and interacting with one another.”
LucasArts President Darrel Rodriguez also had something to say, assuring us that this is just the beginning on Virtual Console.
“Virtual Console on Wii is a great way to make these games available to our fans again, and it’s an awesome opportunity to expose our classic console titles to an entirely new audience.”
Great news for both LucasArts and Nintendo fans. I know these are three games I have been wanting to see released on Virtual Console for quite some time now. Will we be seeing Shadows of the Empire or Zombies Ate My Neighbors next? Stay tuned!
After poor reviews overall, it’s no wonder that Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings did not sell as well as LEC had hoped. Don’t worry about that though, LucasArts makes plenty of money. It’s you we’re looking out for! Thanks to Mixnmojo, we have found several retailers who have dropped the price of all versions of the game to $20. When you consider that the Wii version includes Fate of Atlantis, that is a downright steal. You can grab this great deal from Walmart, Amazon, Gamestop, and probably more. Funnily enough, the PSP version of the game at Walmart is still $40.

Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron is the next iteration of the series once again for handhelds, following the success of Battlefront: Renegade Squadron. It will be released for Sony PSP and Nintendo DS and have all the features you would expect from a Battlefront game: multiplayer battles, taking control of soldier-type units, and both land and space battles. I was able to play this game at E3 this year, and other publications have written their thoughts of the game since then. Read more »
Another piece of news to be taken with a grain of salt, French Star Wars fansite Starwars-Universe.com has what they claim to be a reliable source for the date that LucasArts is aiming to release Star Wars: The Old Republic. Read more »
Amazon.com is not always the most reliable source for game updates. Box art, release dates, or even completely fake products. The image to the right has been added to the product page for the upcoming Ultimate Sith Edition of The Force Unleashed. But who knows? We won’t until LucasArts officially reveals it. As far as I can tell, the art used has not been released, so it very well could be legit.
As you are all well aware, LucasArts has been making a conscience effort to bring back games from their back catalog through digital distribution channels. So far we have seen games released on PC through Steam and Direct2Driver as well as on Xbox Live Arcade. But what about Wii and PS3 owners? Well LucasArts hasn’t forgotten about them. Speaking with G4, LucasArts president assured them that they are working to get titles on every platform available. Read more »
